BIO

JOHN A. MURRAY is an actor in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has experience in film and commercial work. His look is ideal for playing interesting characters such as the guy next door, a doctor, a mayor, grandpa, the quirky every-man ...

John got into acting a little later in life. At the age of 45, his wife bought him three voice lessons at McPhail. "She said she always knew I was talented."

He ended up studying voice for 3 years at McPhail. After which he started trying out for musicals in The Twin Cities; getting cast for every chorus audition he auditioned for.

From there he began auditioning for movies and commercials. I took an acting class at MCTC then. I always wanted to get into acting but didn't have the confidence all of those years before. My wife, Mary Kay, gave me that confidence.

"I love getting into character and becoming that person. I would say I am a Method actor. I also love to watch the crew see how they film the scenes and how the director directs. Even the long waits in the "green room" are fun. I enjoy the down time to meet fellow actors. I've talked with Robert Conrad (every day during Jingle All The Way.), Woody Harrelson (during the filming of his movie Wilson), as well as Joe Keery, and Maria Bamford."

I love all the aspects of acting; even knowing there are rejections along the way. It's so rewarding when you get the email stating they want you. That moment makes up for all the auditions.
